An elephant sculpture unveiled at UL is reminding people that it's ok to talk
The University of Limerick has unveiled a very special elephant sculpture - it's all part of the University's participation in Brent Pope's Elephant in the Room charity.
It's being led by the Be Well at UL initiative, which aims to promote health and well-being of UL employees.
The Elephant in the Room idea was started by the former Rugby player and pundit who has become an advocate for greater mental health awareness and understanding.
Speaking to Live 95 News Brent Pope explained what the simple initiative stands for....
The ‘Elephant in the Room’ sees the creation of site-specific art projects designed by those participating in the initiative.
It is quickly becoming a global awareness campaign, and a “who’s who” of global corporations have joined the movement and adopted elephants to help encourage everyone to talk about the elephant in the room, mental health.
The latest addition at the university was designed by administrator in Health and Safety at UL Luan Lyons.
The commissioning of an ‘Elephant in the Room’ sculpture at UL is a public commitment that mental health at work is a priority for the University.
The Elephant in the Room at the University of Limerick will be on display at the Glucksman Library as the university prepares for its new academic year.
