The projects are aimed to support housing for the elderly.

The Mayor of Limerick John Moran has announced the signing of a number of orders which will allow for two significant housing developments to progress.

Funding has been approved for Clúid Housing Association to build 86 homes for rightsizing and elderly tenants at Greenpark on the Dock Road. This is part of a larger development of 371 homes, with the remaining 285 units for private sale.

Separately, a loan has been advanced to the Broadford Voluntary Housing Association and Community Childcare Facility Company to build four two-bed and three one-bed units at Nunan’s Corner in Broadford.

Five of these will be allocated to elderly people on the council's waiting list, while the BVHA will allocate the other two.

The Greenpark project is scheduled for completion in early 2027, and the Broadford project will start construction early next year.

Mayor John Moran said: "I want to thank the team within the Housing Directorate in Limerick City and County Council, as well as the teams at Clúid and the BVHA, for their continued work across these projects. "
