The grants go towards projects that benefit parental support.
Local services in Limerick are being encouraged to apply for grants from the newly opened €150,000 Parent Peer Support Fund for 2025/2026.
Grants of up to €5,000 are available and aims to significantly benefit projects where parents support each other by sharing knowledge, combating isolation, and promoting well-being.
Peer support initiatives are particularly effective for parents coping with children's mental health issues or complex care needs.
The fund, launched by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley, is available under two tiers: Tier 1 offers €2,500 grants for establishing or operating a new project, while Tier 2 provides €5,000 to scale up existing successful initiatives.
Last year, 42 organisations nationwide shared €100,000 under the scheme.
Services working with parents or carers can apply for funding to develop or expand initiatives, with applications due by Friday, October 31, 2025.
