Come along to the Spring Rice Monument in the People's Park on 23 August and discover the story behind the Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI) bench marks.

'Locating Bench Marks, Preserving Heritage' is a community-driven project led by University of Limerick and supported by The Heritage Council that seeks to locate and photograph surviving bench marks throughout County Limerick.

Dr Catherine Porter and Margaret O'Sullivan from UL, along with experts from Taillte Éireann, will hold a free information session during Heritage Week for members of the public who are interested in finding out about how they can get involved in locating Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI) bench marks, which first appeared on our landscape nearly 200 years ago and were used right up until the 1990s.

📱 You’ll also get the chance to try out a new app that helps locate and record bench marks throughout County Limerick.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families are very welcome!

Don’t miss this unique event celebrating our heritage and the tools that helped map Ireland.
